Pilates Body Design Classes are all taught by Sally Nicholls who has 11 years of experience in teaching Pilates to adults of all ages and physical condition.She has an extensive knowledge of the way the body works and reacts with exercise, a deep understanding of the Pilates Method and has an eye for detail to be able to recognise each person's unique correct postural alignment.
Through regular attendance of the classes you will increase your strength, tone, flexibility and postural alignment, as well as a calmer sense of well being. But one of the most important benefits you will achieve, is an increased sense of body awareness which through practice of the core and postural work focussed on in class, begins to kick in automatically allowing your body to cope more naturally in both passive and more challenging day to day situations. 
This increase in body awareness - that knowing when your body is in just the right position, when you feel your weight lightened by the support of your core muscle contractions - is what produces the progression in Pilates from beginner through intermediate to advanced level; not as some may believe in the length of time you've been doing Pilates or being able to force your way into the hardest version of every single exercise position.
 
Most of the classes are suitable for all, whether beginner or more experienced, with every ability being catered for by the offering of alternative levels throughout the session. Some classes may naturally move on to a higher progression level but newcomers will always be welcome. Please feel free to contact Sally to discuss any worries or concerns you might have about the suitability of the classes and people are always welcome to observe a class before they join if they so wish.

Sally is a highly qualified Fitness Instructor with over 21 years in the Fitness Industry. She launched her career teaching her unique style of aerobics and conditioning classes in her own studio in north London. Always keeping up with and anticipating new trends, she kept her classes fresh, exciting and very effective. Not just content with teaching in the studio, Sally started up running groups in the area and helped to set up many community projects. She later went on to work as part of the management team within the most recognised name in the Fitness Industry, working on creating innovative exercise programmes for both mainstream and specialist populations.
Sally is a qualified Pilates Institute Instructor trained by Michael King.

Body Design *NEWS UPDATE*

Block and price changes for summer:

Starting in June the block booking system will be changing in two ways:

  1. Firstly, it will be for one calendar month instead of six weeks; so if you normally come on a monday class, in June there are only 3 mondays so you will be asked to pay a block booking price of £15.00 in advance to attend those monday sessions.

  2. If you cannot make a session, I'm afraid they can no longer be transferred to another block, but you will be encouraged to attend another class session that week so you don't miss out. If you know you can't make one week because you're away, you can always do two in another week. Pay as you go is still available but the price of individual classes will be £6.00.

Starting in September I will be introducing Pilates Monthly Season Tickets which will cost £20.00 per month whether there are 3, 4 or 5 of your normal weekly sessions falling in that month. The amazing added benefit of these Season Tickets is as well as attending your normal weekly class you can actually attend as many of our other Pilates classes in that month as you like which could be as many as 25! Your season ticket will automatically enter you into a raffle with a monthly prize offering a free Zumba class! The price of pay as you go will go up to £6.50 per session, so I'm hoping that you will take advantage of the freedom and value for money that the season ticket will offer.

I will be undergoing training to learn to teach Zumba in July, and so I will be planning to put on a class as soon as possible. These classes unfortunately will not be included in your Pilates Monthly Season Ticket, but I will be arranging another season ticket to cover both Pilates and Zumba together once the Zumba has become established. Initially Zumba will be offered on the monthly block booking system where you pay for your month of weekly sessions in advance costing £5.00 per class. The pay as you go price for Zumba will be £6.00 per class.

And finally, would you like to join us for a bit of running training? There's no charge, it's just to get you started, armed with sensible methods of training to avoid injuries and to enjoy what is the most natural thing for your body to do - run free! The session will last around an hour, and includes a thorough warm up and pre-stretch and ending with a proper warm down and post stretch. Everyone will be encouraged to go at their own pace and no one gets left behind. If you are interested, please let me know at class or tex/email me and I will notify everyone of an agreed date and route.
